LEAD facilitators

Ted DesMaisons is a trained mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) instructor and has studied, taught, and performed improvisation internationally for over 35 years. He has worked intensively with world-renowned voice and presence coach Patsy Rodenburg. He is also the author of Playful Mindfulness and co-host of the Monster Baby Podcast (“a curious romp through the worlds of mindfulness and improvisation”). He served on the board of BATS Improv in San Francisco for six years and has led more than a dozen workshops for annual conferences of the global

Applied Improvisation Network. DesMaisons received an MBA from Stanford (Creativity and Leadership) and an MTh from Harvard (Ritual,  Education and Spirituality). He lives in California and now teaches through Stanford University’s Continuing Studies program. (LinkedIn profile)

Raymond van Driel is a Dutch corporate trainer, keynote speaker, executive coach, author, academic teacher. He has been performing improv since 1994 and won the Dutch Improv Champion title four times. He started with corporate improvisation in 2000 and now delivers Training of Trainers and keynotes about Applied Improvisation and Playfulness worldwide.

From 2009 to 2011, Raymond hosted Applied Improvisation courses at Stockholm University where business students engaged with improvisation for 3 months, 20 hours a week.

In 2016, Raymond received a government grant to do a full year of Applied Improvisation with the faculty and students of Vlerick Business School in Brussels and St Petersburg.

We are thrilled to welcome Improv Wisdom pioneer Patricia Ryan Madson as a guest facilitator. Patricia will host a mini session on the improv principles of appreciation and saying YES. Drawing on 40+ years of teaching at Stanford University and on her travels in East Asia Patricia has distilled valuable lessons for the workplace and for life in general. Denise Jacobs is a speaker, author and creativity expert from Miami, FL who speaks at conferences and consults with companies worldwide. Joshua Raoul Brody has been accompanying improvisational theater since 1979, when he went on Robin Williams’ first US tour, and teaching the craft of song improvisation — through BATS Improv, as well as in Europe, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Ashland, Mendocino, and elsewhere. He has been BATS’s musical director since shortly after its founding, as well as being a founding member of Pulp Playhouse and True Fiction Magazine, as well as playing for Three For All, Awkward Dinner Party, the Comedy Store Players (LA), and many others. We are SO happy that Joshua will lead an evening full of improvisational singing for us!


Unconference day on SATURday

On Saturday we’ll organize an Unconference day, a chance to cool down and do whatever you feel like. Options include going out for a walk at the beach, Open Space-like activities, improv games, and time for any remaining questions you might have. We might also offer a few 1 hour mini coaching sessions, to help you incorporate the learnings from the course and focus on your own individual work context. We’ll have lunch together and finish around 4pm.


Investment

The early bird course tuition of US$1975 includes the course, 4 nights accommodation (Monday to Thursday), all meals, materials and snacks. After September 15th, tuition will be US$2375.

Please note: the price excludes the extra drinks in the evening, and the optional Unconference on Saturday ($200 for the extra night and meals, you’ll receive a separate invoice for that).

Location

We’ll be at a beautiful center in Burlingame, 15 minutes from San Francisco Airport and 30 minutes from the city centre.

accommodation

Guests will stay in single private bedrooms with shared semi-private bathrooms (individual stalls for showers).
